ATPP IS a new pathway to qualified, certified and licensed teachers. “Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, we are transforming Nigeria’s education system to deliver better quality, stronger standards and improved learning outcomes for every Nigerian child.

Through the Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway (ATPP), we are providing a structured pathway for teachers already serving in our classrooms without formal professional education training to become qualified, certified and licensed, while continuing to serve their schools and communities.

Eligibility Criteria for the 2026 FG Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway

  • Non-professional teachers with non-education degrees currently teaching
  • HND, ND and OND holders currently teaching
  • Non-professional teachers in public, non-state, ECCDE, primary, secondary, TVET, non-formal and alternative settings
  • Community instructors and volunteer educators

Graduation/Certification Requirements

To graduate and be recommended for TRCN registration, candidates must:

  • Complete the required credit units — 40 for PGDE, 37 for PDE
  • Pass teaching practice
  • Demonstrate professional conduct
  • Meet institutional assessment requirements
  • Sit and pass the TRCN Professional Qualifying Examination
