Job Description

Applications are now open for the 2026 Art4Change Storytelling Fellowship, a six-month programme designed to support young creatives from Africa, Europe, and the diaspora in documenting and sharing stories of youth-led innovation.

Programme Overview

The Art4Change Storytelling Fellowship is a six-month initiative running from June to December 2026, organized by the Africa-Europe Innovation Platform and implemented by The African Youth Café.

The programme brings together emerging storytellers to explore and document how young people are driving innovation across different communities and regions.

Programme Details

The fellowship aims to amplify underrepresented voices by empowering participants to tell real-life stories from their own perspectives.

Through various storytelling formats—writing, photography, video, audio, and multimedia content—fellows will capture how young people are creating, testing, and applying innovative ideas in their communities.

All selected fellows will publish their work on a dedicated digital platform, ensuring global visibility for their stories.

What Fellows Will Do

During the six-month programme, fellows will:

  • Participate in structured online training sessions on digital storytelling
  • Receive mentorship and editorial support from experienced professionals
  • Develop and publish stories based on real-life experiences
  • Collaborate with peers across regions to exchange ideas
  • Contribute regularly to a shared digital storytelling platform

This is a hands-on, learning-by-doing programme, combining skill-building with real-world storytelling experience.

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the fellowship, participants will have produced:

  • A series of published digital stories (articles, videos, photo essays, or multimedia content)
  • Documented case studies of youth-led innovation
  • Contributions to a shared online archive of innovation stories
  • Insightful content showcasing how young people engage with innovation globally

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be 18–35 years old
  • Be based in Africa, Europe, or the diaspora
  • Have an interest in storytelling, media, or digital content creation
  • Be passionate about documenting youth innovation and community solutions
  • Be able to commit to the full six-month programme

Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive:

  • Structured training in digital storytelling and content creation
  • Continuous mentorship and editorial guidance
  • A stipend to cover content production costs (transport, data, fieldwork, etc.)
  • Access to a platform to publish and showcase their work globally
