Job Description

The Africa Hub for Innovation & Development (AHFID) is inviting applications for the position of Executive Associate (Strategy & Engagement). Role Summary

The Executive Associate (Strategy & Engagement) will provide high-level administrative, strategic, and operational support to the Managing Director.

Beyond traditional executive assistance, the role involves contributing to strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, project coordination, and organizational effectiveness.

This internship is ideal for highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented individuals seeking practical experience in executive leadership and international development.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Support

  • Manage the Managing Director’s calendar, meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes, and monitor action items.
  • Draft reports, presentations, briefing notes, and official correspondence.
  • Manage incoming communications and prioritize executive matters.
  • Maintain confidential records and sensitive organizational information.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, and official engagements.

Strategy & Coordination

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct research and prepare briefing materials for high-level engagements.
  • Track strategic priorities and ensure timely follow-up on key deliverables.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities involving internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with project planning, documentation, and reporting.

Operational & Logistical Coordination

  • Support the execution of executive-led projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge management systems and operational processes.

Communications & Knowledge Management

  • Draft internal and external communications on behalf of the Managing Director.
  • Develop presentations and executive briefing materials.
  • Maintain organized digital filing systems and records.
  • Support documentation of institutional knowledge and strategic insights.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in any of the following or related disciplines:
    • Business Administration
    • Public Administration
    • International Relations
    • Communications
    • Economics
    • Social Sciences
    • Law
    • Other related fields
  • Medical Doctors are also encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience (internship, volunteer, or professional) in administration, executive support, or project coordination is an added advantage.
  • A strong interest in leadership, strategy, governance, public policy, or international development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams is an added advantage.
