For eligible applicants, the plan is for a Prodigy Finance loan to fund the blocked account, subject to Prodigy’s final approval and approved loan amount.
This means you may not have to personally raise the entire €13,092 blocked-account amount.
However, Prodigy Finance makes the lending decision, not MySCU.
A successful pre-assessment is not final loan approval.
If Prodigy Finance does not ultimately approve enough to fund the required amount, you would need to fund the shortfall yourself or reconsider the route.
Other Costs to Plan For
There is generally no tuition on the selected public-university master’s programmes used for this route.
You will, however, pay a semester contribution.
At Saarland, the current planning figure is approximately €412.30 per semester. Other shortlisted universities are approximately €311 to €443 per semester, depending on the institution.
You should also budget for:
- Health insurance
- Flight to Germany
- Accommodation deposit
- Initial living and settling expenses
- Residence permit after arrival
- Any costs above the amount approved by the lender
A reasonable planning allowance for flight and initial settling expenses alone is approximately €1,500 to €2,000.
A personalised financial breakdown will be provided before you commit.

German is not required for admission to the English-taught master’s programmes on this route.
