About the Arkansas Tech University Master’s Scholarship
The Hecke Lab in the Department of Biology and Earth Sciences at Arkansas Tech University (ATU) is inviting applications for a Master of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife Science (MSFWS) position beginning January 5, 2026 (Spring 2026 semester).
Location: Arkansas Tech University is based in Russellville, Arkansas, approximately 80 miles northwest of Little Rock.
The selected student will work on a research project focused on understanding dietary patterns, microhabitat differences, and morphometric variations among fish species in the Illinois Bayou watershed and nearby regions.
The findings from this study will contribute valuable insights to conservation management and improve understanding of local aquatic biodiversity.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Arkansas Tech University Graduate Assistantship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a B.Sc. degree in Fisheries, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- Have completed courses in Fisheries Management and Statistics.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with fish-sampling techniques.
- Analytical or modeling experience using R software.
- Willingness to participate in field sampling trips, including weekends.
Scholarship Benefits
