Job Description

We are excited to invite media professionals, innovators and technologists to apply for the AI in Journalism Incubator.

The AI in Journalism Incubator is designed to bring together technologists and media professionals to co-create AI-powered solutions to pressing journalism and media accountability challenges in Nigeria and across West Africa.

Teams in this cohort will receive dedicated mentorship, technical and product development support, networking opportunities, and a seed grant for scaling their innovation after the incubator.

Team Formation

Teams will be formed directly by CJID, with each team comprising 3–4 members. Each team will include a majority of technologists and one journalist/researcher/media professional as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants must demonstrate expertise in at least one of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Software Development (Web, Mobile, or Backend Systems), User Experience and Product Design, Data Science and Data Engineering, Natural Language Processing, and Journalism, Media Research, or Fact-checking.
  • Applicants must be available to fully participate in all incubator activities from September to November 2025.
  • Applicants must possess strong interest in leveraging technology to address real-world challenges in media and journalism.
  • Applicants must demonstrate problem-solving abilities.

  • Seed grant per team for scaling the product after the incubator
  • Opportunities to showcase solutions at MDC 2025
