Epron IEWD Essay Competition 2025
To mark International E-Waste Day 2025, EPRON and its partner organizations is inviting Junior and Senior Secondary School students across Nigeria to take part in the IEWD 2025 Essay Competition.
The goal of this project is to create national awareness on the importance of critical raw materials (CRMs) found in electronic waste and promote urban mining as a viable solution for sustainable resource recovery.
By engaging secondary school students through this essay competition, the project aims to promote environmental consciousness, youth involvement in the circular economy, and responsible e-waste management in Nigeria.
Essay Topics
Junior Secondary – Essay Topic:
- Securing critical raw materials for off-grid renewable energy equipment by advancing circular economy
Senior Secondary – Essay Topic:
- Advancing A Just Transition Through Urban Mining to Secure Critical Raw Materials
Eligibility Criterias for the Epron IEWD Essay Competition 2025
- It is open to Junior and Senior Secondary School students (JSS 1-3 and SSS 1-3).
- Essays must be original and written in English.
- Each student is permitted to submit only one essay.
Prizes
- 1st Prize: Cash Prize or School Support Grant
- 2nd Prize: Tablet devices
- 3rd Prize: Books and Educational Materials
