Job Description

The Zuma International Film Festival, in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, proudly presents the European Union Short Film Competition 2025.

This year’s theme, “Being a Nigerian Youth”, invites young creatives to capture the realities, aspirations, challenges, resilience, and triumphs that define Nigerian youth today.

What We’re Looking For

Participants are to produce a short film of no more than 3 minutes that powerfully interprets the theme. Your film may take the form of:

  • A narrative story
  • A documentary
  • Or an experimental style

Regardless of format, entries must be original, authentic, and captivating, offering a unique perspective on the Nigerian youth experience.

Awards & Prizes

Outstanding storytellers will be rewarded with cash prizes to support their creative journey:

  • Winner – ₦1.5 million
  • First Runner-Up – ₦750,000
  • Second Runner-Up – ₦500,000

Beyond the financial rewards, winners will also gain:

  • Visibility at one of Nigeria’s most prestigious film festivals
  • Networking opportunities with key industry players
  • Recognition for their creative work on a national stage

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to Nigerian youth aged 20 to 35
  • Films must be original works created by the applicant(s)
  • Entries must not exceed 3 minutes in duration

Key Dates

  • Deadline for Entries: November 10, 2025
  • Grand Finale & Award Ceremony: December 3, 2025, at the Zuma Film Festival, Abuja
