Job Description

The Waste to Wealth Initiative is a transformative programme created to generate meaningful job opportunities for young Nigerians by converting waste into valuable resources.

Implemented by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development under the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the initiative empowers youths to become job creators through innovative waste-to-wealth enterprises.

It supports national efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), mitigate climate change, reduce environmental pollution, and promote economic growth.

What the Initiative Offers (Benefits & Support)

Participants in the Waste to Wealth programme may benefit from:

  • Specialized Training in waste management, recycling, upcycling, and circular-economy entrepreneurship — giving you the skills to turn waste into useful products.
  • Access to Start-up Capital or Business Support to launch or expand sustainable ventures such as recycling, waste collection/processing, upcycled products, renewable energy, and more.
  • Job Creation & Green Employment Opportunities in areas like waste collection, recycling, climate-smart production, and circular-economy services.
  • Environmental and Climate Action Support by promoting eco-friendly practices that reduce waste and protect the environment.
  • Integration into a National Waste-Economy Network — formalizing waste-related activities into organised, regulated, and profitable enterprises.

The Waste to Wealth Initiative is open to:

  • Young Nigerians interested in waste management, recycling, upcycling, or circular-economy ventures.
  • Individuals or small teams committed to training and practical work — including waste collectors, recyclers, artisans, and eco-entrepreneurs.
  • Youth willing to adopt climate-smart practices that reduce waste and promote environmental sustainability.
