About Us
Hygeia HMO is pleased to announce its Graduate Trainee Programme, a structured, high-impact entry-level initiative aimed at identifying, developing, and fast-tracking young talents into future leadership and specialist roles. This programme provides an immersive experience in the health insurance industry, giving graduates the opportunity to contribute meaningfully while acquiring critical skills, knowledge, and exposure across various functional areas.
Hygeia HMO Objective
- To attract ambitious, innovative graduates with strong academic records and leadership potential.
- To equip participants with practical, cross-functional skills and professional mindset needed in the evolving health insurance and healthcare management environment.
- To accelerate learning through rotations, mentoring, and hands-on responsibilities.
- To build a pipeline of future leaders, innovators, and problem solvers who will support Hygeia HMO’s mission of making quality healthcare affordable and accessible in Nigeria.
Responsibilities:
- Be proactive, taking initiative in learning and contributing.
- Collaborate well with teams across the company.
- Demonstrate high ethical and professional standards.
- Meet deadlines, manage projects / tasks as assigned, and be accountable for outcomes.
- Be adaptable; learn from feedback and be willing to take on stretch assignments.
Requirements:
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree (minimum second-class lower division or better) from a recognized university.
- Age typically not older than 25 years at the time of application.
- Strong communication, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership potential, teamwork ability, and ability to adapt to fast-changing environments.
- High level of motivation, integrity, and customer-orientation.
Programme Duration & Structure
Duration: Around 12 months (could be adjusted depending on organisational needs).
The programme will consist of rotations across several departments / units such as:
- Operations
- Customer Service & Claims Management
- Provider Relations / Network Management
- Marketing & Business Development
- Finance / Risk Management
- Digital / IT Services
Each rotation will typically last 2-3 months, with clear deliverables and objectives.
Learning & Development Components
- Onboarding & Orientation: Participants are introduced to Hygeia HMO’s mission, values (Integrity, Compassion, Attentiveness, Respect, Excellence — “ICARE”), operating model and health insurance fundamentals.
- Mentorship: Each trainee is paired with a senior staff member who provides guidance, feedback, and coaching throughout the programme.
- Training Workshops & Seminars: Structured sessions on technical topics (health insurance, medical claims, provider management, compliance), soft skills (communication, teamwork, leadership), and use of digital tools.
- Hands-on Projects: Real business challenges / improvement initiatives are assigned to trainees, allowing them to apply learning, propose solutions and deliver outcomes.
- Performance Evaluation: Regular reviews at the end of each rotation with feedback, identifying strengths, areas for growth, and setting learning goals.
