University Press PLC, one of Nigeria’s foremost publishing companies, is seeking qualified and experienced professionals to join its team at the Head Office in Ibadan. The available positions are Manager (Accounts) and Accounts Officer.

University Press PLC is recruiting for the following vacant positions:

  • Manager (Accounts)
  • Accounts Officer

Manager (Accounts)

The Manager (Accounts) will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing monthly Profit and Loss Accounts, Balance Sheets, and Final Accounts in accordance with IFRS.
  • Maintaining and updating fixed asset registers, preparing asset disposal schedules, and ensuring accurate depreciation accounting.
  • Conducting regular bank reconciliations and monitoring cash flow positions.
  • Supporting the preparation of annual budgets, monitoring variances, and providing reports for management decisions.
  • Ensuring timely filing of VAT, WHT, CIT, and other statutory obligations in compliance with FIRS and state tax laws.
  • Supporting and liaising with external auditors and implementing internal control improvements.
  • Overseeing accounts payable and receivable, payroll postings, and general ledger maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • A first degree (BSc/HND) in Accounting with at least a Second-Class Lower Division or Lower Credit.
  • Possession of a relevant professional qualification such as ICAN or ACCA is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Not more than 40 years of age.

Accounts Officer

The Accounts Officer will assist in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with established accounting procedures.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and reconciling customer balances.
  • Monitoring account receivables and ensuring prompt payment collection.
  • Preparing and reconciling depot float accounts.
  • Reconciling all depot transaction accounts.
  • Writing daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Filing and preparing staff monthly/annual statutory deductions.
  • Ensuring compliance with company controls and policies, and reporting any contraventions.
  • Performing other accounting-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant first degree (BSc/HND) in Accounting with at least a Second-Class Lower Division or Lower Credit.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a similar position.
  • Membership of ICAN will be an added advantage.
  • Must not be more than 35 years of age.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Applicants must be residents of Ibadan.
