Mente Energy is one of Africa’s fast-growing energy transition advisory firms, delivering projects across renewable energy, climate finance, ESG, and sustainable infrastructure.

The company is seeking a paid ESG Intern to join its team and contribute to research, thought leadership, funding identification, partnership development, and proposal writing.

This is a hybrid role with a four-day work week, including one day in the office, and offers a competitive monthly stipend. It provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain practical experience in the ESG, sustainability, and clean energy advisory space across Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Research ESG trends, clean energy developments, sustainability issues, and policy updates globally.
  • Develop thought leadership materials, articles, reports, and social media content.
  • Identify and track relevant funding opportunities, grants, partnerships, and other prospects.
  • Support the preparation of concept notes, proposals, and other business development materials.
  • Contribute to ESG and clean energy projects across Mente Energy’s portfolio.
  • Provide research and analytical support to the team as required.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A first degree in Law, Environmental Science, Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, STEM, or another relevant undergraduate or polytechnic discipline.
  • Strong curiosity and an interest in learning, research, sustainability, and emerging trends.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Good digital skills and familiarity with AI tools, design tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to research independently, think critically, and contribute effectively to a team.
