Mente Energy Paid ESG Internship 2026

Mente Energy is inviting applications for its Paid ESG Internship, offering an opportunity for young professionals to gain practical experience working on renewable energy, climate finance, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), and sustainable infrastructure projects.

The internship is based in Lagos and Abuja and provides exposure to the work of an energy transition advisory firm delivering projects across Africa. Interns will contribute to research, content development, funding and partnership research, proposal preparation, and other ESG and clean-energy initiatives.

About Mente Energy

Mente Energy is an energy transition advisory firm working across areas including renewable energy, climate finance, ESG and sustainable infrastructure.

The internship is designed for candidates interested in building experience at the intersection of sustainability, research, policy, finance and clean energy.

Role: ESG Intern

Locations: Lagos or Abuja

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Work Schedule: Four-day work week, with one day in the office

Compensation: Competitive monthly stipend

What You Will Do

Successful candidates will support Mente Energy across a range of research, communication and project-development activities, including:

  • Research ESG trends, clean-energy developments and policy updates globally.
  • Create thought-leadership materials and social media content.
  • Identify and track relevant funding opportunities, grants and potential partnerships.
  • Support the preparation and writing of concept notes and proposals.
  • Contribute to Mente Energy’s ESG and clean-energy projects as required.
  • Conduct research that can support the firm’s advisory and project activities.
  • Help translate complex sustainability and energy topics into clear, useful content.

Who Should Apply

Mente Energy is looking for candidates who are curious, analytical and comfortable learning about emerging developments within sustainability and the energy transition.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Strong curiosity and willingness to research widely and understand complex issues.
  • Strong writing ability and the capacity to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Digital proficiency, including comfort using AI tools, design tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Interest in sustainability, renewable energy, climate finance, ESG, policy or related areas.

Academic Background

Applicants should have a first degree in one of the following areas or another relevant discipline:

  • Law
  • Environmental Science
  • Economics
  • Social Sciences
  • Public Policy
  • STEM disciplines
  • Other relevant university or polytechnic programmes

The opportunity therefore isn’t restricted only to engineering or environmental-science graduates. Candidates from policy, economics, law, social sciences and other relevant backgrounds can also apply.
