Our Associate Fellows are an integral part of Carboun’s intellectual community. They collaborate with our core team on a project or publication basis, enriching our research and policy work with diverse disciplinary expertise and regional perspectives.

The Associate Fellowship provides a flexible, non-residential affiliation that allows experienced voices to engage with our projects, represent Carboun in regional and international forums, and contribute to shaping informed, evidence-based dialogue on climate and energy policy.

Job Description

The Carboun Institute is seeking Research Associates to support its growing portfolio of analytical and policy-oriented research across multiple thematic areas. This role is designed for an early-career climate and policy professional who brings strong analytical, research, and data visualization skills, and who thrives at the intersection of research, policy development, and regional diplomacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis on climate and energy policy topics.
  • Collect, organize, and interpret environmental and energy-related data.
  • Support the development of analytical models, datasets, and visualization tools.
  • Assist in preparing research reports, policy briefs, and presentations.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in climate change, energy transition, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers and contribute to ongoing projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Economics, Energy Policy, Data Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks at once.
