Sabou Capital is an Africa-focused private capital fund manager that invests in small and growing businesses (SMEs) across Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal.
The firm provides debt and revenue-based financing to bridge the financing gap for SMEs, using a gender-lens and impact-first investment approach. With leadership teams based in Abuja, Abidjan, and Dakar, Sabou Capital is building a dynamic multi-country investment platform as it advances toward the close of its first fund.
About the Role
The Communications Intern will support the communications team in strengthening Sabou Capital’s brand visibility and voice. The successful candidate will contribute to content creation, storytelling, media engagement, and digital communications while helping showcase portfolio companies and the broader impact investing ecosystem across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Draft, schedule, and manage social media content, particularly on LinkedIn.
- Support the development of press releases, media pitches, and press kits.
- Assist with video production and multimedia storytelling for portfolio companies.
- Write blog articles and update website content.
- Maintain content calendars and monitor engagement metrics.
- Provide administrative and coordination support, including scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree programme in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- A strong interest in impact investing, private capital, or the West African startup ecosystem.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
- Basic knowledge of design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (an added advantage).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.
- Working knowledge of the French language is an added advantage.
