UNDP Digital, AI and Innovation Internship 2026 | Remote Internship with Monthly Stipend
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has opened its 2026 Global Call for the Digital, AI and Innovation Internship, a three-month opportunity for students and recent graduates interested in gaining practical experience across digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data, innovation, research, product development and international development.
The internship is home-based, allowing selected candidates to work remotely while contributing to projects within UNDP’s Digital, AI and Innovation (DAI) Hub.

About the Digital, AI and Innovation Internship
The internship is designed to bring motivated students and recent graduates into different workstreams within UNDP’s Digital, AI and Innovation Hub.
Interns can contribute to research, programme implementation, data analysis, AI initiatives, policy development, strategic communications, partnerships, digital products and other projects depending on their skills and the needs of the Hub.
The internship start date is flexible and based on organisational needs.

What Interns May Work On
Depending on placement, interns may:
- Conduct research on digital transformation, innovation, AI, data governance and emerging policy issues.
- Support digital, data and AI initiatives implemented with UNDP Country Offices.
- Develop training and capacity-building materials for governments and partners.
- Research data governance, data protection and responsible data use.
- Collect, clean and analyse quantitative and qualitative data.
- Build dashboards, trackers and data visualisations.
- Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
- Research potential partners, including technology companies, foundations and nonprofit organisations.
- Develop communications materials, proposals, concept notes, presentations and outreach materials.
- Support strategic communications, newsletters, blogs and social media content.
- Help design digital products such as apps, platforms, web applications and AI tools.
- Participate in user testing and improvement of digital products.
- Support software developers, product managers and UNDP teams during product development.
- Conduct research and prepare knowledge summaries, briefing materials and reports.
- Maintain digital knowledge platforms and repositories.
- Support project planning, workplans, procurement and resource-management processes.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following educational conditions:
- Be enrolled in a graduate-level programme, such as a master’s degree or equivalent/higher qualification.
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree, at minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent.
- Have already graduated from a university degree programme and be able to begin the internship within one year of graduation.
Applicants should also:
- Be fluent in English.
- Have an interest or relevant experience in at least one of the internship’s workstream areas.
- Be interested in digital technology, AI, data, innovation or related development work.
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced working environment.
