Job Description

Maroriem Consults is a Nigeria-based accounting and consulting firm helping small and medium-sized businesses manage their bookkeeping, tax compliance, payroll, financial reporting, and advisory needs.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate, NYSC member, or early-career accounting professional who wants to gain practical experience and build a strong foundation in accounting and finance.

What You’ll Do

As an Accounting Intern, you will work closely with the Junior Accountant and support daily accounting activities, including:

  • Preparing, processing, and organizing invoices and billing records.
  • Entering financial transactions accurately into accounting systems.
  • Assisting with bookkeeping and maintaining up-to-date financial records.
  • Supporting bank, client, and other account reconciliations.
  • Gathering documents for tax and statutory compliance, including VAT, WHT, and PAYE.
  • Assisting with financial schedules, reports, and reconciliations.
  • Maintaining well-organized digital and physical accounting records.
  • Preparing and organizing documents required for audits.
  • Retrieving financial information and supporting documents when needed.
  • Checking that accounting documents are complete, properly approved, and correctly filed.
  • Supporting other accounting and finance tasks assigned by the Junior Accountant.

Who We’re Looking For

You should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or be currently pursuing a relevant degree.
  • 0–1 year of accounting or finance experience, including internship, industrial training, NYSC, or entry-level experience.
  • A basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
  • Familiarity with financial documentation and account reconciliations.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with Sage, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
