Job Description

Plan International is currently recruiting a Business Development Assistant to join its team in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Opportunity

The Business Development Assistant will support institutional fundraising efforts by providing administrative, coordination, and research support to the Business Development Unit.

This role plays a key part in tracking funding opportunities, supporting proposal development, and managing donor information to ensure efficient and well-organized operations aligned with the country strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and track funding opportunities while maintaining an updated pipeline
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for proposal development
  • Monitor timelines and follow up with teams to ensure timely submissions
  • Support proposal compilation, formatting, and documentation
  • Conduct research on donors, funding trends, and opportunities
  • Maintain donor databases and information systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams (programmes, finance, grants, and MERL)
  • Assist in preparing donor-facing materials such as concept notes and presentations
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and support knowledge management systems
  • Promote compliance with safeguarding and PSHEA standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (postgraduate qualification is an advantage)
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience (including internships or entry-level roles in NGOs or similar settings)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Understanding of donor landscapes and funding trends
