Job Summary
The Digital Business Advisor will play a pivotal role in the Plastics Recycling Programme in Nigeria (PReP) — an initiative designed to promote circular economy solutions through sustainable recycling and entrepreneurship.
Working closely with the Senior Business Advisor, the Digital Business Advisor will oversee advisory services, digital training, stakeholder engagement, and program implementation to ensure effective delivery of all project components.
This role requires a dynamic, tech-savvy, and development-oriented professional with strong business advisory skills and experience in the digital or circular economy sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Inception Phase
- Support short-term consultants in conducting market analysis studies, including value chain mapping, enabling environment assessments, and gender and social inclusion analysis.
- Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of program beneficiaries based on pre-set selection criteria.
- Collaborate with the Senior Business Advisor, MEL Manager, and Project Lead to develop a detailed project implementation work plan.
Project Implementation
- Facilitate training sessions for beneficiaries, ensuring high engagement and compliance with program guidelines.
- Strengthen linkages between plastic collectors, aggregators, and recyclers, fostering sustainable business relationships.
- Monitor participants’ performance to ensure compliance with the program’s operational standards.
- Support Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) processes and contribute to data-driven reporting.
- Identify potential challenges in program execution and recommend timely solutions.
- Collect and document feedback from beneficiaries to enhance program delivery and impact.
- Promote and uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and values throughout program activities.
- Undertake other relevant tasks as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the project.
EdTech & Capacity Building Support
- Assist in the deployment of NovaEdTech digital solutions to train and onboard collectors, aggregators, and community members.
- Conduct digital literacy workshops, webinars, and hands-on demo sessions tailored to low-tech users.
- Provide technical guidance to improve platform usability and inclusivity for women, youth, and informal sector participants.
Scaling and Adoption of Digital Platforms
- Collaborate with partners to integrate data flows from aggregators, collectors, and recyclers into digital systems.
- Track and analyze platform performance indicators (e.g., user registration, transaction volume, redemption rates) and recommend enhancements.
- Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with fintech, telecoms, and technology companies to expand the platform’s reach and efficiency.
- Recommend innovative technology-driven solutions that can strengthen Nigeria’s circular economy and plastic value chains.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Business Management, Marketing, Enterprise Development, Project Management, or a related Social Science/Humanities field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with low-income communities (earning less than $2/day), focusing on business education and stakeholder engagement.
- Alternatively, 1 year of experience in a similar role with a Master’s degree.
- Agile certification (CSM, PMI-ACP, CSPO, PSM, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience working with small and growing businesses for at least two years post-NYSC.
- Demonstrated experience in data collection, stakeholder engagement, digital training delivery, and report writing.
- Strong ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders, including private sector leaders, donor representatives, and community actors.
- Prior experience in waste management or the recycling sector is an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with digital tools such as Comcare and KoBoCollect is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within diverse teams.
Languages
- Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.
- Proficiency in local languages of target communities (especially in Kano State) is highly desirable.
Travel Requirements
- Must be willing to travel up to 40% of the time to engage with communities, partners, and field offices.
