Job Description
Applications are now open for the 2027 ECOWAS Young Graduates’ Professional Immersion Programme (YGP).
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is inviting applications from young graduates across ECOWAS Member States for a 12-month professional immersion opportunity within ECOWAS institutions and agencies.
The programme is designed to provide recent graduates with valuable first-hand professional experience while strengthening their technical and soft skills, promoting regional integration, and contributing to development across West Africa.
Programme Objectives
The programme aims to help participants:
- Gain high-quality first professional work experience.
- Strengthen their technical, professional, and soft skills.
- Promote regional integration and professional mobility.
- Gain experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Contribute to ECOWAS programmes and initiatives.
- Develop professionally and serve as ambassadors of ECOWAS.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member State, including Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Cabo Verde, or Togo.
- Be between 18 and 32 years old on the application closing date.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
- Be proficient in at least one of the ECOWAS working languages: English, French, or Portuguese.
Programme Details
- Programme: ECOWAS Young Graduates’ Professional Immersion Programme (YGP)
- Duration: 12 months
- Period: January – December 2027
- Available Positions: 90
- Application: Online through the official programme platform
- Positions: Applicants may apply for up to two positions using one cover letter.
- Renewal: The programme is non-renewable and lasts a maximum of 12 months.
Programme Placement
The Immersion Programme will be carried out within ECOWAS institutions, agencies, Permanent Representations, or any other location duly designated by ECOWAS.
Benefits
Successful candidates who are posted outside their home country will receive a flight ticket from their country of origin to the host country.
Programme Coordination
The programme is coordinated by the Directorate of Education, Science and Culture (DESC) under the Department of Human Development and Social Affairs (DHAS) of the ECOWAS Commission.
