This is a full-time remote opportunity for experienced professionals passionate about program management, youth development, ecosystem building, and the future of Africa’s gaming and creative technology industry.
About GameUp Africa
GameUp Africa is a talent accelerator program by Maliyo Games focused on building Africa’s next generation of game developers, artists, and sound engineers.
Since launching in 2021, the program has:
- Received over 6,000 applications
- Trained more than 2,000 developers
- Supported the creation of 150+ games by learners across Africa
The organization works to equip aspiring African creatives and developers with mentorship, practical training, industry exposure, and real opportunities within the global gaming ecosystem.
About the Role
The Program Lead will oversee the planning, execution, coordination, and optimization of GameUp Africa’s initiatives across multiple African countries.

Position Details

Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Planning & Program Design
- Design and develop frameworks for GameUp Africa programs and ecosystem initiatives
- Create timelines, milestones, and execution roadmaps
- Identify operational risks and bottlenecks
- Develop playbooks, documentation, and SOPs
- Define program quality standards and success benchmarks
Operations & Administration
- Manage end-to-end program operations across multiple cohorts
- Coordinate activities across internal teams
- Maintain schedules, calendars, and workflows
- Ensure high-quality learner experiences
- Optimize tools and systems for remote collaboration
Program Delivery & Ecosystem Building
- Coordinate workshops, game jams, mentorship sessions, and training programs
- Support mentorship structures and learner pathways
- Track alumni engagement and long-term ecosystem growth
- Document outcomes and key learnings
Data, Monitoring & Reporting
- Build systems for tracking and organizing program data
- Create surveys and feedback systems
- Analyze insights to improve future programs
- Develop reports, dashboards, visualizations, and impact summaries
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
- Support outreach to sponsors and ecosystem partners
- Develop partnership proposals and pitch decks
- Coordinate mentors, speakers, facilitators, and judges
- Maintain relationships with funders and international organizations
- Deliver partnership reports and impact updates
Talent Acquisition & Selection
- Coordinate calls for applications
- Manage screening and shortlisting processes
- Conduct interviews and support candidate selection
Requirements
Must-Haves
- Strong experience in program management and operations
- Ability to manage multi-stakeholder programs
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience with reporting, data analysis, and visualization
- Ability to work effectively with remote teams
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working with youth development, education, or talent programs
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience working with international partners
- Knowledge of impact evaluation frameworks
- Experience in gaming, technology, or creative industries
- Familiarity with African gaming ecosystems and communities
- Experience managing programs across multiple African markets
