Remote Digital Artist & Illustrator at Turing

Job Description

Are you an illustrator, sketch artist, cartoonist, concept artist, or digital artist looking for a flexible remote opportunity? Turing is currently looking for creative artists to contribute to an AI-focused project, and the role is open to both newcomers and experienced professionals.

This is a 6–8 week remote contract project that can be a good fit for artists who enjoy working from references, experimenting with different styles, and creating polished digital artwork.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Digital Artist or Illustrator, your main responsibility will be to create artwork based on reference images while adding your own creative interpretation.

Your work may include:

  • Creating digital character illustrations and sketches from reference images
  • Developing creative variations while keeping characters recognizable and consistent
  • Working with different artistic themes and visual styles
  • Applying fundamentals such as composition, perspective, lighting, color, and proportion
  • Reproducing or adapting a particular artistic style from a reference
  • Creating polished artwork according to project requirements
  • Documenting creative decisions, style choices, and basic prompt-related information
  • Completing revisions and delivering work within agreed timelines

The role requires both artistic creativity and attention to detail. Being able to look at a reference, understand what makes it visually distinctive, and recreate or transform it effectively will be important.

Artistic Styles

Artists with experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Sketching
  • Cartoon and character design
  • Concept art
  • Stylized digital illustration
  • Steampunk art
  • Surreal art
  • Cinematic artwork
  • Film noir
  • Vintage and retro styles
  • Glitch art

You don’t need to be an expert in every style. Strong ability in one or more relevant areas can be enough, especially if your portfolio demonstrates versatility.

Software Skills

You can work with any standard digital art software, including:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Procreate
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Clip Studio Paint
  • Affinity Suite
  • Similar professional digital art tools

The important thing is your ability to produce quality artwork. You don’t necessarily need experience with every software package listed.

Who Can Apply?

One of the interesting things about this opportunity is that there is no minimum professional experience requirement.

Turing is open to:

  • Interns
  • Fresh graduates
  • Emerging artists
  • Freelance artists
  • Experienced illustrators and digital artists
  • Concept artists
  • Cartoonists and character designers
  • Creative professionals from related fields

If you have strong artistic skills and can demonstrate them through your portfolio, you can apply even if you haven’t held a formal professional art position before.
