Now, they’re looking for a Blockchain Architect to join their global, remote-first engineering team; someone who can bridge business goals with deep technical understanding, guiding both clients and developers toward the best possible solutions.
The Role
As a Blockchain Architect, you’ll be Protofire’s technical backbone in client engagements. You’ll collaborate with sales, engineering, and customers to design secure, scalable, and innovative blockchain architectures while ensuring everyone stays aligned on goals, timelines, and outcomes.
You’ll be hands-on in discovery, design, and delivery, helping shape everything from technical roadmaps and proposals to smart contract design and dApp infrastructure.

What You’ll Do
Here’s a glimpse into your day-to-day at Protofire:
- Discovery & Strategy: Lead discovery calls to understand goals, constraints, and pain points then turn them into clear requirements and success metrics.
- Solution Design: Architect secure, efficient blockchain solutions; document assumptions, risks, and trade-offs.
- Collaboration: Partner with sales and product teams to align on customer needs, delivery estimates, and roadmap implications.
- Proposal Building: Create detailed technical proposals with scope, milestones, pricing, and acceptance criteria.
- Technical Leadership: Co-lead technical negotiations, answer objections, and produce demos and clarifications.
- Documentation: Deliver clear architecture docs, API specs, and non-functional requirements for smooth handovers.
- Market Research: Stay ahead of industry trends, track competitors, and identify adjacent opportunities or risks.
- Community Engagement: Participate in Web3 communities (Discord, X, GitHub), contribute to OSS, and engage with feedback.
Requirements
You’re not just a builder, you’re a strategic technologist who sees the big picture. You have:
- 2+ years of experience as a Blockchain Architect, Engineer, or similar
- Daily experience using on-chain tools, managing wallets, or engaging in DeFi/governance
- A strong public presence in Discord, GitHub, X (Twitter), or community forums
- Proven experience shipping or maintaining open-source infrastructure
- Deep understanding of L1/L2 ecosystems (Ethereum, Polkadot, Cardano, etc.)
- Expertise in smart contract design and deployment (Solidity, Web3.js)
- Solid grasp of crypto primitives, key management, wallet security, and multisig/custodial systems
- Full-stack literacy; you can read, reason about, and discuss backend/frontend code
- Experience with Agile/SCRUM; translating requirements into actionable backlogs and milestones
- Excellent communication skills; you can explain complex Web3 concepts to non-engineers
Bonus points if you’ve architected DeFi platforms, run audits, or contributed to protocol governance.
